Welcome to Pinterest and Jeopardy on the iPad. Learn from others who have paved the way by pinning their cool ideas for the classroom. We will take a close look at Pinterest and see how it could be useful for you, the teacher, to find new and creative ideas to integrate into your curriculum. We will also show you how to make and teach students to create a Jeopardy game on the iPad for students to use as a review before assessments.
We will explore ways to use these two powerhouse apps, Explain Everything and Skitch, to understand your students better as readers and writers. Participants will leave with concrete lesson ideas to use for the beginning of next school year as well as ways to set up assessment routines with these tools.
We will review a project I did with my Algebra class which focused on scientific notation and scale factor by creating a scale model of the solar system. Students used Green Screen by DoInk to create videos about their planets which I then combined and enhanced in iMovie. Participants will develop a project strategy for their own class.
Learn several ways to use Explain Everything, specifically focusing on uses in flipped teaching and student assessment. We will also discuss ways to screencast with Quicktime and strategies for posting (or submitting) recorded media. Bonus! We will also review a math scaling project using Skitch.
